Collection of oaths taken in New York City, 1715-1813. They include abjurations of Roman Catholic doctrine, oaths of allegiance to the Hanoverian Succession, and oaths sworn on naturalization either as British subjects or as U.S. citizens. There are also groups of oaths sworn by military officers, attorneys, and city officers. Institutions represented include the militia, the New York State Artillery, 1st Brigade, the Supreme Court, the Court of Common Pleas, and the Mayor's Court.
